NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission (“Commission”) in accordance with the Casino Gaming (Casino Licence Application) Regulations 2017 that the period for filing an application for a casino licence (“Filing Period”) shall begin on Monday April 17, 2017 and shall close at 16:00hrs on Friday July 21, 2017.

The Hamilton Princess and the St George’s hotel project will be eligible to apply for casino licences after being named designated sites.

In the latest Bernews podcast, the executive director of the Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission says using Singaporean gaming legislation as a model has slowed down the process of bringing a casino to Bermuda.

Richard Shuetz told Bernews that the Commission had drafted more than 40 amendments to the legislation that was passed in 2014 and that he was talking to the new Tourism Minister, Michael Fahy, about the issue.

The Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission has seen a “robust demand” for applications to establish properties as designated casino sites.

Richard Schuetz, the executive director of the commission, said the demand for applications was stronger than he had expected, adding that so far two of the applications had been returned.
